Who Flies There

Airlines serving
Varanasi (VNS).

Varanasi is one of the best-connected pilgrimage airports in North India. On most days you have a direct option from the big metros and a one-stop option from everywhere else.

  • IndiGo — the widest Varanasi network, with direct flights from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata
  • Air India — direct from Delhi and Mumbai, plus one-stop links from most metros
  • SpiceJet — seasonal direct service, strongest on the Delhi and Hyderabad sectors
  • Akasa Air — growing Bengaluru and Mumbai connectivity into Varanasi

Honest Fare Advice

When fares
are usually softest.

We won’t promise the “cheapest” seat — nobody can. But after thousands of pilgrim bookings, here’s the honest pattern we see on the Varanasi sectors.

  • Book roughly 3–6 weeks ahead — Varanasi fares are usually softest in that window.
  • Mid-week departures (Tuesday/Wednesday) tend to be lighter than Friday–Sunday.
  • Avoid the Dev Deepawali and Mahashivratri peaks unless those festivals are the reason you’re coming — fares and hotels both spike.
  • A 1-stop routing via Delhi or Hyderabad is often materially cheaper than a scarce direct seat from the South.
  • Fly straight into Varanasi (VNS) — it’s only about 45 minutes from the ghats, so there’s no reason to land anywhere else.

Airport → Ghats

Landing at
Babatpur (VNS).

  • VNS (Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport) sits ~25 km north-west of the ghats, at Babatpur.
  • Allow 45–60 minutes by car to the Dashashwamedh / Godowlia area — longer during evening aarti traffic.
  • A pre-paid taxi counter operates in the arrivals hall; app cabs also pick up from the designated bay.
  • Our packages include a private AC airport pickup, so you skip the queue and head straight to your hotel.
